摘要: Treatment of damaged intervertebral discs is a significant clinical problem and, despite advances in the repair and replacement nucleus pulposus, there are few effective strategies to restore defects annulus fibrosus. An annular material should meet three specifications: have modulus similar native tissue, support growth disc cells, maintain adhesion tissue under physiological strain levels. We hypothesized that genipin crosslinked fibrin gel could these requirements. Our mechanical results showed gels be created with range tissue. also demonstrated this compatible vitro human when genipin:fibrin ratios were 0.25:1 or less, although cell proliferation was slower morphology more rounded than for alone. Finally, lap tests performed evaluate between pieces Specimens without had poor handling properties readily delaminated, while remained adhered at strains exceeding levels failed 15-30%. This study show promise as gap-filling adhesive biomaterial tunable properties, yet slow suggests may best suited sealant small fibrosus an augment large repairs. Future studies will degradation rate, fatigue behaviors, long-term biocompatibility.
