摘要: Purpose. Although visual deprivation causes increased ocular elongation and myopia in both birds mammals, changes sclera appear to be opposite directions. Because avian has a cartilaginous layer as well the fibrous found we examined whether scleral responses various manipulations differ between two layers. Methods. To produce increases myopia, monocular diffusers or negative lenses were fitted eyes. Conversely, decreases elongation, removed (restoring normal vision) positive fitted. Scleral layers then dissected apart, incorporation of labeled precursors into glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), DNA, protein was assessed. Tissue coculture experiments used assess humoral interactions with choroid. Results. In layers, label proteoglycans DNA significantly higher eyes elongating faster than because wearing lower slower removal diffuser lenses. reverse case. Coculturing from myopic recovering produced same increase decrease sulfate GAGs though tissue measured animal providing conditioning tissue. choroid, especially eyes, also inhibited sclera. Conclusions. The shows during recovery direction does mammalian sclera, whereas direction. may controlled by layer, although they are influenced choroid well.
