摘要: The research problem addressed by ambient noise investigators since the 1950s is quantitative determination of sources sound in sea. Investigators quickly realized importance intermittent sound, compared with persistent background. Biological noises and nonbiological (including man-made sounds) were considered predicated on areas operation naval sonar systems. Certainly one would observe a cacophony noises, grunts, moans, chirps, etc. shallow water arctic areas. crustaceans (shellfish, shrimp), marine mammals (whales, killer whales, dolphins) many fish (croakers) produce loud sounds these can often dominate background (see suggested bioacoustic references Chapter 1). Nonbiological such as atmospheric storms, seismic disturbances, activities man fishing, offshore oilrigs, airgun surveys have been studied are also important contributors to field. However, this monograph focuses natural physical mechanisms that determine properties air–sea interaction zone characteristics sound.
