摘要: Abstract Forward modelling has been applied to refraction and wide-angle reflection traveltime data along two profiles crossing the intracratonic Dniepr-Donets Rift (DDR), a Devonian sedimentary basin located in southwestern part of Eastern European Platform between Ukrainian Shield Voronezh Massif. The 2-D P-wave velocity models show that crystalline crust beneath rift is thinner characterised by higher values (of almost 1.0 km/s) than Shield. Differences strike DDR are also indicated. cross Dniepr Donets segments reveal, respectively, infill thickness 7 20 km crustal thicknesses 31 17 km. In both cases, comprises distinct layers. Beneath basin, Moho lies at 38 upper mantle 8.4 km/s. region, layers underlain boundaries depths 37 42 with velocities 7.6 8.0 km/s, respectively. interpreted indicate key process formation evolution was exchange material uppermost mantle. It hypothesised extended faulted pre-rift shield intruded melts during rifting crust/mantle may have occurred subsequent cooling subsidence stage development. Rifting less intense segment compared Donets. To explain other differences structure DDR, it postulated density reduction some portion subcrustal response compressional deformation inversion Permian Uralian orogeny.
