摘要: Abstract This contribution directly relates to the paper published by Wheeler in 1978 entitled ‘Why were there no fish remains at Star Carr?’. Carr is arguably richest, most studied and re-interpreted Mesolithic site Europe but lack of has continued vex scholars. Judging from other materials, preservation conditions late 1940s/early 1950s should have been good enough permit survival remains, particularly dentaries northern pike ( Esox lucius L., 1758) as found on European sites this age. The evidence therefore attributed a paucity lake. However, new research provided multiple lines evidence, which not only demonstrate presence fish, also provide for species present, data how where being processed site, interpretations fishing methods that might used. study demonstrates an integrated approach using range landscape, microscopic scales analysis can elucidate such questions. In addition, it future studies, even cases physical are lacking, forensic techniques hold significant potential.
