摘要: Overwintering larvae of the beetle,Dendroides canadensis, from northern Indiana were able to survice freezing at temperatures down −28°C. During a late winter thaw or upon warm acclimation became freeze susceptible, but cold acclimatization restored tolerance. Concentrations cryoprotectants glycerol and sorbitol, ice nucleating agents (probably proteins) thermal hysteresis proteins increase in autumn, peak decline spring. These other, as yet unknown, factors are responsible for capacity ofDendroides subzero temperatures. The hemolymph limit amount undercooling approximately 1°C below point thereby prevent lethal intracellular formation. Therefore, depression provided by becomes essential survival during periods such thaws, spring when susceptible.
