摘要: Background: Patterns of comorbidity suggest that the common psychiatric and substance use syndromes may be divisible into 2 broad groups internalizing externalizing disorders. We do not know how genetic environmental risk factors contribute to this pattern or whether etiologic structure these differ in men women. Methods: Lifetime diagnoses for 10 were obtained at a personal interview more than 5600 members male-male female-female twin pairs ascertained from population-based registry. Multivariate modeling was performed using program Mx. Results: first fit models following 7 syndromes: major depression, generalized anxiety disorder, phobia, alcohol dependence, drug abuse/dependence, adult antisocial behavior, conduct disorder. The full model, which could constrained equality male female subjects, identified factors. had strongest loadings on disorder; second, phobia. Alcohol dependence abuse/dependence substantial disorder-specific Shared most pronounced disorder behavior. No clear internalizing/externalizing seen unique then 5 syndromes. also women, revealed one factor loading heavily depression another strongly animal situational Conclusions: underlying abuse disorders women is very similar. Genetic predispose Within disorders, are dominated by anxious-misery fear. Substance have risks. behavior significantly influenced shared environment. lifetime results largely effects Arch Gen Psychiatry. 2003;60:929-937
