摘要: To avoid the confounding effects of anesthesia and immobilization stress in rat brain positron emission tomography (PET), motion tracking-based unrestrained awake imaging is being developed. In this paper, we propose a fast accurate headmotion tracking method based on small PET point sources. sources (3-4) attached to rat’s head are tracked image space using 15–32-ms time frames. Our source (PST) was validated manually moved microDerenzo phantom that simultaneously with an optical tracker (OT) for comparison. The PST further three [18F]FDG scans. Compared OT, PST-based correction at same frame rate (31.2 Hz) reduced reconstructed FWHM by 0.39–0.66 mm different tested rod sizes phantom. could be another 0.07–0.13 when increasing (66.7 Hz). Regional uptake corrected scan strongly correlated ( $p ) anesthetized reference all cases $0.94 ). proposed allowed excellent reproducible vivo experiments. addition, there no need specialized equipment or additional calibrations performed, practically imperceptible rat, ideally suitable bore scanners, where might challenging.
