摘要: The optimization of spatial resolution is a critical consideration in the design small-diameter positron emission tomography (PET) scanners for animal imaging, and often addressed with Monte Carlo simulations. As faster simpler solution, we have developed new analytical model PET detector response function, implemented small single-slice, multilayer scanner. accuracy has been assessed by comparison both simulations experimental measurements published literature. Results from agreed well method, being noise free two to three orders magnitude faster. only major discrepancy was slight underestimation width point spread function method as inter-crystal scatter neglected. We observed good agreement between predictions measurements. For large-diameter additional discrepancies were seen due photon acollinearity, which not considered model. shown that simple fast can provide accurate estimates scanners, could be useful tool several applications, complementing or cross-validating other simulation methods.
