摘要: Abstract Pop-up satellite archival tags (PSATs) have been used since the 1990s to document movements and post-release survival of numerous fish species. The effects PSAT attachment on metabolic rate, cost transport, swimming kinematics have, however, not broadly investigated. We therefore quantified acute these parameters in juvenile (47–87 cm fork length) sandbar shark Carcharhinus plumbeus. Using a water tunnel, we also measured lift drag forces PSATs from three manufacturers which allowed us calculate theoretical power costs towing devices. found no evidence that results increases rate or influences at volitional speeds. Applying force measurements obtained for our data showed predicted fractional increase engendered by one devices specified velocity, normalized when velocity minus standard would be below 5%. Our are congruent suggest does negatively impact (and extension other elasmobranch species equivalent larger body sizes employing similar mode).
