Hemangioma of the vertebral column. A report on twenty-three patients with special reference to functional recovery after radiation therapy.

摘要: Twenty-three patients with severely symptomatic hemangiomas of the vertebral column were treated by irradiation. Pain in back and numbness limbs markedly or completely relieved most (88% 80%, respectively). Five out 7 paraplegic recovered sufficiently to be able walk again. For a severe compression syndrome spinal cord, irradiation could chosen as primary treatment without preceding surgical decompression. The result multiple courses lower doses was not superior single course, for which an optimum dose 30 Gy 40 Gy/4 6 weeks is recommended authors.
