摘要: This chapter reviews the solidification and melting mechanism. It is assumed that, after a brief initial transient, pure liquid metal at temperature below its equilibrium melting/freezing point forms stable crystalline nuclei rate given by an equation in chapter, these subsequently grow into larger crystals. The overall transformation thus, principle, dependent on two separate processes, as also of crystal growth from vapor. Once nucleus has formed super cooled liquid, however, usually very large may be limited only which released latent heat can removed vicinity solid-liquid interface. freezing small droplets studied careful observation individual or measuring various properties aggregate such droplets. method, introduced Vonnegut extended Turnbull, gives much more detailed quantitative comparison theory along with experiment chapter.
