摘要: Fifty-nine enterococci isolated from 18 patients in an intensive care unit (ICU) and 21 general wards (GW) at Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) during a period of 14 months were examined for antibiotic resistance by susceptibility testing DNA polymorphism pulsed-field gel electrophoresis. The study showed that penicillin-resistant Enterococcus faecium is common nosocomial isolate ICU. patterns various strains E. faecalis closely related most consecutive isolates the same but generally different patients. Thirty two identified 59 39 Identical or similar also some patients, suggesting cross-infection had occurred between ICU GW. These data suggest more commonly than GW are consistent with known higher risk infection.
