Scalar differences: temporal rhythms and spatial patterns at Monjukli Depe, southern Turkmenistan

摘要: New investigations at the site of Monjukli Depe in southern Turkmenistan challenge traditional ideas regarding distinction between Neolithic and Aeneolithic this region. It had previously been argued that former (the �Jeitun� culture) represented an expansion agricultural villages from Mesopotamia, while latter (best known Anau) marked incorporation local Iranian elements. By integrating multi-scalar analyses layout, architectural design patterning different household activities Depe, a more nuanced interpretation temporal spatial variability site's successive occupations becomes possible. The new insights afforded by approach show contrast may not have as clear-cut has traditionally believed.
