Central action of interleukin 1β on intestinal motility in rats: Mediation by two mechanisms

摘要: Abstract Background: Interteukin 1 (IL-1) can influence gut functions by inhibiting gastric acid secretion. This study was performed to investigate the effects of IL-1 on intestinal motility and mechanisms involved. Methods: The IL- 1β were determined electromyography in conscious rats with implanted electrodes a permanent catheter lateral brain ventricle. Results: Intracerebroventricular IL-1β (15 ng) administered fed immediately stimulated cecocolonic spike bursts caused migrating myoelectric complex pattern after delay small intestine. Tenfold higher doses peripherally did not promote similar reactions. antagonist reduced effect blocked stimulation. Indomethacin SC 19220 but antagonize increase contractions. In contrast, α-helical CRF 9–41 contractions IL-1β-induced Conclusion: IL-1β's be mainly ascribed central action. stimulation may mediated corticotropin-releasing factor, whereas involve prostaglandin mediation.
