Measurement of Ambient, Interstitial, and Residual Aerosol Particles on a Mountaintop Site in Central Sweden using an Aerosol Mass Spectrometer and a CVI

摘要: The Aerodyne aerosol mass spectrometer (Q-AMS) was coupled with a counterflow virtual impactor (CVI) for the first time to measure cloud droplet residuals of warm tropospheric clouds on Mt. Areskutan in central Sweden July 2003. Operating CVI different operational modes generated concentration and species-resolved distribution data non-refractory species ambient, interstitial, residual aerosol. ambient measurements revealed that at site mainly influenced by long-range transport regional photochemical generation nitrate organic components. Four major air masses were identified interval experiment. While two approached from northeastern Europe via Finland showed very similar composition, other polar regions British Islands had significantly composition. During events larger particles found be activated into droplets. On basis activation cut-off diameter approximately 150 nm organics dominated 200 sulfate particles. Generally droplets higher efficiency than sulfate. significant fraction nitrates or nitrogen-containing species, ammonium nitrate. After passage size shifted smaller particle sizes due predominantly without change relative composition
