摘要: Purpose: Changes in textural characteristics of diffuse optical spectroscopic (DOS) functional images, accompanied by alterations their mean values, are demonstrated here for the first time as early surrogates ultimate treatment response locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). NAC, a standard component LABC patient, induces measurable heterogeneous changes tumor metabolism which were evaluated using DOS-based metabolic maps. This study characterizes such inhomogeneous nature development, determining properties DOS images apparent at stages therapy, followed later gross values these Methods: Twelve undergoing NAC scanned before and four times after initiation, tomographic reconstructed each time. Ultimate responses determined clinically pathologically, based on reduction size assessment residual cellularity. The mean-value parameters features extracted from volumetric several prior to initiation. biomarkers also monitored over course treatment. measured applied differentiate patient noninvasively compared clinical pathologic responses. Results: Responding nonresponding different during chemotherapy. Whereas none start therapy significant difference between two populations, statistically differences observed week one initiation relative change contrast/homogeneity seven maps (0.001 < p 0.049), value water content tissue (p = 0.010). cross-validated sensitivity specificity ranged 80%–100% 67%–100%, respectively. Higher levels exhibited treatment, with sensitivities specificities ranging 80% 100% three parameters. combination “hybrid” profile could better separate populations up 0.001). Conclusions: results this suggest that conjunction can classify chemotherapy, provides basis imaging tool personalization.
