Much experimental research on etiology has focused role nutritional antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E, carotenoids). Evidence epidemiologic studies support for in delaying onset these vision disorders. Although it not yet possible conclude that antioxidant nutrients have prevention or AMD, summary evidence suggests prudent consume diets high vitamins C E carotenoids, particularly xanthophylls, as insurance against development AMD.
