摘要: A retrospective study of the primary causes maternal deaths in eclamptics treated Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) over a 20-year period, from 1st January 1967 through 31st December 1986, was carried out. During this total 845 cases eclampsia were and 91 associated with or its complications. The included 66 predelivery 25 postpartum respectively. Most (n = 86) occurred unbooked eclampsia. mortality rate 105/1000 eclamptic deliveries. common LUTH during period under renal failure (14.5%), cerebrovascular haemorrhage (12.7%), cardio-pulmonary disordered intravascular coagulation syndrome (DIC) (10.9%), cardiac (8%). Post Mortem Rate (PMR) dead 60%. Scrutiny data suggested that many could have been avoided if patients brought to hospital good time for treatment.
