摘要: The extracellular ligand, Wnt, and its receptors are involved in sign al transduction play an important role axis formation neural development. In neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), a decrease of the intracellular Wnt effector, β-catenin, has been linked to amyloid-β-peptide-induced neurotoxicity. Despite this knowledge, targeting inhibitors potential biomarkers not explored, harnessing activators therapeutic candidates remains largely investigated. A wide acting family mediators, secreted frizzled-related proteins (sFRPs), probed so far molecular indicators occurrence progression Alzheimer's. Unlike effect Dickkopf (DKK) antagonists on AD, sFRP molecules have more pleiotropic impact signaling cascade probably far-reaching involvement neurodegeneration. sFRPs poorly described review, we analyze present status neurodegeneration, their likely involvement, implications treatment modalities AD. This information would provide valuable clues for development targets aberrant disorders.
