Degradation trends based on MODIS-derived estimates of productivity and water use efficiency: A case study for the cultivated pastures in the Brazilian Cerrado

摘要: Abstract Understanding spatial and temporal variations of the agronomic conditions cultivated pastures is essential for defining guidelines actions public private policies to increase livestock productivity. Within this context, study aimed evaluate trends degradation Cerrado biome found in Minas Gerais State, Brazil (as produced by TerraClass Landsat-based mapping project, led Ministry Environment Brazil). The was based on water use efficiency (WUE) estimates derived from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data 2003 2014. WUE corresponds relation between net primary productivity (NPP) actual evapotranspiration (AE). NPP values were enhanced vegetation index (EVI) time series obtained MOD/MYD13 products, while monthly AE MOD16A2 product. Based estimates, ~ 39.1% (4.6 million hectares) total area presented negative (p ≤ 0.20) (19.3% p ≤ 0.05; 8.6% 0.05
