摘要: Abstract This paper assesses the effects on adult Onchocerca volvulus of monthly doses ivermectin (150 µg/kg) given over 4, 8, and 12 months to patients in Guatemala. Nodules were removed 4 after last dose; O. extracted by collagenase digestion, studied histological techniques, compared with worms from untreated patients. Twelve killed a proportion (12% males 22% females), leaving remainder relatively unaffected females slowly resuming embryogenesis. After 8 doses, number female had resumed embryogenesis 1 genital tract only, total degeneration ovary was seen. Ivermectin also led marked drop male nodules. No serious adverse reactions occurred treatment well accepted.
