摘要: Abstract Composites of randomly oriented, chopped carbon fibres in Pb, Ag, Cu, Ni and Co have been prepared by powder metallurgical techniques, with fibre contents up to 25 vol.%. The most satisfactory method fabrication is hot-pressing precoated metal electroless deposition. Rates wear the composites, measured at room temperature during sliding against tool steel without lubrication, are appreciably lower than those parent metals. coefficients friction not reduced, however, nor rates elevated temperatures (470°C). It concluded that function facilitating development a strengthened surface layer sliding. do appear improve bulk mechanical properties possible reasons for this discussed.
