摘要: Abstract The impact of the Cu/Li ratio on sequence and kinetics solid-state precipitation is studied for two recently developed Al–Cu–Li–Mg–Ag alloys: AA2198 AA2196. A quantitative evaluation alloy microstructure carried out using small-angle synchrotron X-ray neutron scattering, conventional aberration-corrected (scanning) transmission electron microscopy differential scanning calorimetry. It shown that small modifications to chemistry profoundly change phases formed during natural ageing: Cu-rich clusters in Li-lean δ′(Al3Li) phase Li-rich alloy. Despite this difference early ageing, peak aged microstructures alloys are similar, dominated by high-aspect-ratio T1 plates with a thickness 1.3 nm diameter up 50 nm. However, incubation time nucleation saturation size after growth precipitates found be significantly different between alloys. Small amounts other from binary Al–Cu also observed. Mechanisms formation discussed view these experimental results.
