摘要: Autophagy, a cellular catabolic pathway, is evolutionarily conserved from yeast to mammals. Central this process the formation of autophagosomes, double-membrane vesicles responsible for delivering long-lived proteins and excess or damaged organelle into lysosome degradation reuse resulting macromolecules. In addition hallmark discovery core molecular machinery components involved in autophagosome formation, complex signaling cascades controlling autophagy have also begun emerge, with mTOR as central but far exclusive player. Malfunction has been linked wide range human pathologies, including cancer, neurodegeneration, pathogen infection. Here we highlight recent advances identifying understanding pathways that are mammalian autophagy.
