摘要: The structure and function of the arcuate fascicle is still controversial. goal this study was to investigate asymmetry, connectivity, segmentation patterns fascicle. We employed diffusion spectrum imaging reconstructed by generalized q-sampling we applied both a subject-specific approach (10 subjects) template (q-space diffeomorphic reconstruction 30 subjects). complemented our investigation with fiber microdissection five post-mortem human brains. Our results confirmed highly leftward asymmetry In template, left had volume twice as large right one, superior temporal gyrus provided times more fibers than its counterpart. identified four cortical frontal areas termination: pars opercularis, triangularis, ventral precentral gyrus, caudal middle gyrus. found clear terminations at opercularis analysis connectivity revealed existence strong structural in arcuate, but not one. formed an inner or pathway, which interconnects rostral gyri; outer dorsal gyri inferior gyri. further support tractography studies. propose primary supplementary language pathways within dominant potentially distinct functional lesional features.
