摘要: The hypochromism of the 260 mμ. absorption band helical DNA is its lower absorbance, per base group, compared to absorbance mononucleotides. has been calculated as a function pf composition and sequence. oscillator strengths, transition monopoles moments for π→π* transitions bases with wavelengths 187 276 mμ have from molecular orbital theory u.v. spectra. effect close 200 mμ, make increase increasing guanine + cytosine content. Experimental measurements hypochromism, while they seem show opposite dependence on composition, are not yet detailed enough definite conclusions be made. in vacuum approximated by polarizabilities solvent refractive index. inside helix cause hypochromism; those sugar phosphate groups hyperchromism. net cannot accurately but should little composition. static electric fields negligible.
