摘要: Surveillance for Rickettsia spp. is urgently needed due to the recent emergence of many novel rickettsioses around globe, but previous studies in Taiwan have been limited small areas and no investigation infections vertebrate hosts has ever attempted. We surveyed rickettsial systematically small-mammal trapped between 2006 2010 throughout Taiwan. Fragments ompB gltA genes liver, spleen, kidney mammals were targeted by nested polymerase chain reaction. 1375 individuals 10 species, among which Rattus losea was most common (54.6%), followed Suncus murinus (20.6%) Mus caroli (10.6%). The overall rate or 309 assayed 60.5%, with a infection ≥50% each mammal species. DNA nucleotide sequences 184 successfully sequenced similar nine species: conorii, R. felis, japonica, raoultii, rickettsii, sp. IG-1, TwKM01, TwKM02, typhi. Our results suggest that several are widespread across various habitats need further study emerging
