摘要: Addictive disorders among the elderly have emerged as a growing public health concern. As proportion of population increases, more and older adults will either develop addictions dysfunctional means coping with psychosocial consequences aging, or carry their long-standing addictive behaviors them into later life. Among most common these are smoking, excess consumption alcohol, gambling. This article briefly reviews three examines assessment treatment options. The current cohort tends not to seek help for addiction problems in specialty mental substance abuse treatment. To improve rates cessation abstinence, intervention should be delivered general medical settings such primary care.
