摘要: Background Iodinated contrast media (ICM) allergy labels pose a unique clinical problem for the interventional pain physician due to drawbacks of gadolinium enhancement during procedures, as well reluctance add cumulative steroid burden with premedication. However, risks ICM hypersensitivity specific this setting have not been previously described. Methods We aimed describe incidence ICM-induced performance epidural injections in large healthcare system. also sought characterize preexisting and how these affected consequent utilizations population. Results 6,471 procedures requiring were performed 18-month study period. There no reported contrast-induced reactions time. 108 patients (1.6%) had allergy; shellfish/seafood was recorded 118 (1.82%), 51 charts (0.78%) labeled "iodine" allergy. 183 individuals received injections. 96.7% utilization occurred context electronic medical record. Of note, 20 (18.5%) iodinated contrast, uneventful all cases. Conclusion Our results suggest that ICM-associated is very rare significantly lower than expected based on reaction rates intravascular administration. This may be related both dose route The establishment protocol safe workup would useful optimizing procedures.
