摘要: Several recently published studies showed the existence of an association between allele e4 apolipoprotein E and Alzheimer's disease (AD) in developed countries. We examined this 55 patients with possible or probable AD 56 elderly controls referred to outpatient clinics at "Hospital das Clinicas da Faculdade de Medicina Universidade Sao Paulo" "Centro Saude Escola Publica Paulo". The was significantly more frequent among than (20.9% vs 8.9%, p=0.038). Thirty-six percent cases presented least one compared only 17.9% (p=0.027). presence increased by 2.63 times risk subjects being diagnosed as suffering from AD. All three e4e4 were male had a pre-senile onset disease. There no significant difference senile (41.9% 29.2%, p=0.326) nor men women (36.0% 36.7%, p=0.959) regarding their e4. age symptoms did not differ different genotype groups, although consistent trend for earlier onset. When diagnosis "probable AD" included analysis (n=43), we observed that 22.1% alleles e4, rate higher 8.9% (p=0.024). This study supports extend finding Brazilian patients. Nonetheless, is necessary sufficient development it its contribution pathogenesis disorder depends on subject's ethnic group.
