摘要: Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) is an important cool-season food crop grown in various parts of the world as it offers ecological, environmental value and nutritional security. To sustain production for future generations, lentil cultivars should possess tolerance/resistance to abiotic biotic stresses. Existing have a narrow genetic base are primarily bred traits which yield centric. Therefore, improve these cultivars, useful untapped genes interest need be incorporated from wild distant cultivated backgrounds. This chapter highlights significant work done through pre-breeding (agronomical, seed quality, tolerance heat, drought, cold frost resistance fungal disease). These either been or still introduced into existing new cultivars.
