摘要: Staining for amino acid naphthylamidase and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) was examined as an ancillary technique to improve the accuracy of differentiating hepatocellular carcinoma from metastatic liver in fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy specimens. Twenty-four cases FNA specimens liver, which air-dried smears and/or cell blocks were available, examined. Naphthylamidase-positive bile canalicular structures present 2 absent 8 studied. Ninety percent carcinomas immunoreactive with antibody CEA, showing a predominantly pattern. positive diffuse cytoplasmic These findings indicate that both staining techniques may be useful carcinoma. Since stain requires smears, not whereas immunocytochemistry can done on fixed material, latter is more practical.
