摘要: The objective was to investigate the effectiveness of cannabis-based medicines for treatment chronic pain associated with brachial plexus root avulsion. This condition is an excellent human model central neuropathic as it represents unusually homogenous group in terms anatomical location injury, descriptions and patient demographics. Forty-eight patients at least one avulsed baseline score four or more on 11-point ordinate scale participated a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, three period crossover study. All had intractable symptoms regardless current analgesic therapy. Patients entered 2 weeks, followed by three, 2-week periods during each which they received oromucosal spray preparations. These were placebo two whole plant extracts Cannabis sativa L.: GW-1000-02 (Sativex®), containing Δ9tetrahydrocannabinol (THC):cannabidiol (CBD) approximate 1:1 ratio GW-2000-02, primarily THC. primary outcome measure mean severity last 7 days treatment. Secondary measures included related quality life assessments. failed fall points defined our hypothesis. However, both this sleep showed statistically significant improvements. study medications generally well tolerated majority adverse events, including intoxication type reactions, being mild moderate resolving spontaneously. Studies longer duration are required confirm clinically relevant, improvement condition.
