摘要: Cordierite-containing articles are produced by a method comprising the steps of providing raw materials including alumina-yielding ingredients, magnesia-yielding and silica-yielding suitable to form an analytical batch composition weight on oxide basis 9-20 percent MgO, 30-50 Al 2 O 3 , 41-56.5 SiO . The include talc having BET surface area no greater than about 4.0 m /g, uncalcined clay average particle size 2.0 μm. blended with effective amount vehicle forming aids plastic mixture. mixture is anisostatically formed into green body dried. dried fired at temperature for time cordierite/containing ceramic article. cordierite-containing exhibit coefficient thermal expansion not 4.0×10 -7 /°C. transverse I ratios less 0.85. present invention particularly useful in cordierite honeycomb structures used as catalyst supports automobiles or particulate filters exhaust fluids diesel engines.
