摘要: Cellular phenotypes can critically rely on mono-allelic gene expression. Recent studies suggest that in mammalian cells inter-chromosomal DNA interactions may mediate the decision which allele to activate and silence. Here, these findings are discussed context of knowledge competition, chromatin dynamics, nuclear organization. We argue data obtained by 4C technology strongly support idea folds according self-organizing principles. In this concept, positioning a given locus is probabilistic as it also depends properties neighbouring segments and, extrapolation, whole chromosome. The linear distribution repetitive sequences active inactive regions important for folding relative chromosomes. This stochastic concept organization predicts tissue-specific between two selected loci present different chromosomes will be rare.
