摘要: Abstract Thermal energy storage and management in builtable dings play a major role the transition towards low-carbon economy. Buildings are largest energy-consuming sector world, where heating cooling around 60–70%. This paper provides comprehensive review of advanced measures based on thermal technologies for applications buildings. With aim structuring identifying most promising solutions buildings, global classification is carried out. The commercial solutions, emerging technologies, recent research activities reported literature international projects analysed. main achievements together with status short- long-term. It outstanding applications, operation modes, implementation techniques their potential benefits. Solutions sensible latent heat show higher development best performance, through use aerothermal free-cooling ventilation systems, solar small-scale units, large-scale underground systems. For an optimal integration they should be combined generation smart demand-side strategies. Regarding thermochemical despite high density materials reduced losses, at current stage, final volume prototypes highly penalized by required auxiliary components. Moreover, studies report low-to-moderate efficiency values poor transfer rates after relatively large number cycles. Therefore, although developments expected this field, present time greater advances processes have been obtained sorption cycles
