摘要: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to understand how food used create identity and community for gamers during core rituals. These meanings are be explored within the broader context subcultural experience in an investigation motives self‐concept dynamics underlying symbolic consumer behaviour.Design/methodology/approach This uses interpretive research strategy adopts a multi‐method ethnographic approach that includes: netnography: multiple, in‐depth, interviews; prolonged participant observation. Interview informants young Irish members aged between 18 23. Data analysis proceeds according constant comparative method.Findings findings suggest social gaming ritual, when intersected with food, closely linked issues identity, community, fantasy escape, gustatory rebellion hedonism.
