The triad of erectile dysfunction, hypogonadism and the metabolic syndrome

摘要: Summary Aim:  To identify the relationship of erectile dysfunction, hypogonadism and metabolic syndrome in context men’s health. Methods:  An Expert Panel Meeting was held December 2006 Vienna, Austria. In addition a comprehensive literature search conducted. Results:  Men have higher incidence cardiovascular events than women similar ages which has led to belief that testosterone is risk factor for disease men. The latter hypothesis no longer tenable. On contrary, low levels are associated with (visceral) obesity, syndrome, diabetes mellitus, dysfunction (ED). Testosterone therapy does not lead an increased or such as myocardial infarction, stroke angina. Until recently ED were viewed more less independent entities affecting ageing male. It recognised common denominator. With integrative approach health situation middle-aged elderly men, these conditions appear closely interrelated their manifestations, hypothetically aetiology, diagnostic strategy also treatment. Conclusion:  Improving sexual portal hazards improving health. Appropriate diagnosis medical work up men presenting symptoms may benefit diagnosing treating other important conditions, diabetes, hypertension hyperlipidaemia.
