摘要: The neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) represent some of the most common infections poorest people living in Latin American and Caribbean region (LAC). Because they primarily afflict disenfranchised poor as well selected indigenous populations African descent, NTDs LAC are largely forgotten even though their collective disease burden may exceed better known conditions such HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, or malaria. Based on prevalence healthy life years lost from disability, hookworm infection, other soil-transmitted helminth infections, Chagas important LAC, followed by dengue, schistosomiasis, leishmaniasis, trachoma, leprosy, lymphatic filariasis. On hand, for NTDs, leptospirosis cysticercosis, complete estimates not available. geographically concentrate 11 different sub-regions, each with a distinctive human environmental ecology. In coming years, schistosomiasis could be eliminated transmission filariasis onchocerciasis America. However, highest disease, co-infections, first require scale-up existing resources development new control tools order to achieve elimination. Ultimately, roadmap elimination more widespread will an inter-sectoral approach that bridges public health, social services, interventions.
