Regional and selective effects of oestradiol and progesterone on NMDA and AMPA receptors in the rat brain.

摘要: We investigated the effect of 10 months ovariectomy and a correction therapy, 2 weeks before rats were killed, oestradiol, progesterone or their combination on NMDA AMPA receptor binding in hippocampus, dentate gyrus, striatum, nucleus accumbens frontal cortex rat brain as well amino acid levels cortex. densities assayed by autoradiography using, respectively, l-[3H]glutamate [3H]AMPA; concentrations measured high performance liquid chromatograhy (HPLC) coupled with UV detection. Ovariectomy was without density all regions except hippocampal CA1 region gyrus where it decreased compared to intact values. Oestradiol restored increased subfield ovariectomized but, contrast, striatum while having no CA2/3 hippocampus accumbens. but reduced Progesterone, oestradiol combined progesterone, not rats, they these receptors other assayed. Amino unchanged after steroid treatments. The confirmed present study our novel findings cortex, may have functional significance for schizophrenia neurodegenerative diseases.
