Giant thymoma in the anterior-inferior mediastinum

摘要: Thymomas are usually found in the superior mediastinum and sternotomy is standard approach for resection. We report a case of male patient with giant left-sided thymoma, nearly fulfilling whole hemithorax. Due to sheer size tumor its location anterior-inferior mediastinum, we performed lateral thymectomy. On resection specimen measured 18 x 16 12 cm. Histology revealed mixed stage I thymoma. The doing well 36 months after has no signs recurrence. In literature, significant increase risk recurrence thymomas >8 cm reported.
