摘要: Background: Intra-articular knee injections with hylan GF-20 (Synvisc) have been shown to provide temporary relief of osteoarthritic symptoms. Several studies suggested that repeated courses treatment this product may be administered without an increase in the likelihood adverse reaction. The present study was performed test hypothesis a painful reaction does not patients who receive more than one course treatment. Methods: records all had received were compared group only during same fifteen-month period at single center. single-course prospectively enrolled and followed, as part ongoing randomized trial. two groups respect several demographic clinical parameters well frequency acute local reactions following GF-20. Results: Local occurred significantly often they did treatment; four (21%) nineteen former (2%) forty-two latter (p = 0.029). All severe enough cause patient seek unscheduled care. Following corticosteroid injection, abated apparent sequelae. With numbers available, no significant differences detected between multiple-course terms age, gender, body-mass index, or severity bilaterality disease. Conclusions: suggests it reasonable counsel treated desire additional medication appears increased. Additional investigation mechanisms those are warranted.
