摘要: Our current understanding of the role social environment in crime causation is at best rudimentary. Guided by theoretical framework Situational Action Theory, and using data from ESRC financed Peterborough Adolescent Young Adult Development Study (PADS+), this paper aims to propose how we can better theorise study environment, particularly person place interaction, causation. We will introduce, illustrate usefulness of, a space–time budget methodology as means capturing people’s exposure settings describing their activity fields. suggest demonstrate that, combined with small area community survey psychometric measures individual characteristics, powerful tool for advancing our knowledge about its interaction propensity, unique allows us convergence time space criminogenic events. As far are aware, such an analysis has never before been carried out. The findings show that there (a) clear associations between young fields settings, (b) involvement, and, crucially, (c) influence depends on person’s propensity. Having crime-averse morality strong ability exercise self-control appears make people practically situationally immune influences while having crime-prone poor vulnerable settings.
