摘要: Due to its rapid industrialization and urbanization, China faces the daunting challenge of sharply growing energy resource consumption. It is now indispensable for nation alter course development into more sustainable paths in terms efficiency. In this paper, we discuss intensity industrial sectors Yangtze River Delta, consisting Shanghai City neighboring province Jiangsu—the fastest economically developing region country—and argue possible strategies efficient activities there. We first examine historical trends associated with study factors affecting evolution these by applying decomposition analysis. then that if “business as usual” (BAU) patterns are continued, level both regions may surpass China’s policy targets 2010, GDP growth well consumption will exceed pathways under current 2020. Thus, appropriate measures urgently needed lower Based upon analyses Chinese government’s orientation, propose two options alternative scenarios improving practices energy-intensive industries, particularly targeting cement steel production sectors. These are: (1) diffusion highly technologies (2) promotion a circular economy symbiosis. highlight can potentially lead savings reductions serve regional model China.
