摘要: Key Points � Down syndrome (DS), with an incidence of 1 in 691 live births, is the most common chromosomal cause intellectual disability. To avoid pitfall diagnostic overshadowing, physician should remember that people DS are at increased risk for certain comorbidiites and same illnesses affect all children. Frequent hearing vision evaluations indicated due to high prevalence abnormalities (>50%) individuals DS. The thyroid disease 20-30% range (requiring yearly labs); newly recognized comorbidities also needing screening celiac autism (both 7% range). medical care children requires vigilance regarding their predisposition issues; however, after many years caring families, this experience provides continuing rewards.
