A schizophrenia relevant 5-Choice Serial Reaction Time Task for mice assessing broad monitoring, distractibility and impulsivity.

摘要: The 5-Choice Serial Reaction Time Task (5-CSRTT) is an automated test for rodents allowing the assessment of multiple cognitive measures. Originally designed to assess deficits relevant attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, it has been widely used in investigation neural systems attention. In current study, we have set up a modified version, which reduced training phase only 8–9 days with minimal food deprivation and without single-housing. Furthermore, based on evidence that patients schizophrenia are more impaired broad monitoring abilities than sustained attention, successfully developed protocol replicating Spatial Attentional Resource Allocation (SARAT), humans monitoring. During this task, when target appeared at single pre-cued location, mice selectively responded faster. Instead, increasing number validly cued locations proportionately decreased accuracy. We then validated neuropsychiatric disorders additional irrelevant pre-cue lights disrupted (distractibility). Finally, improved previously protocols changing inter-trial intervals from 5 7 s by randomly presenting shift 20% trials. This resulted selective effect premature responses (impulsivity), important implications as well other mental disorders.
