Silver(I) 3-Aminomethylpyridine Complexes, Part 1: Effect of Ligand Ratio, π-Stacking, and Temperature with a Noninteracting Anion

摘要: The reaction of the asymmetric 3-aminomethylpyridine (3-amp) ligand with silver(I) tetrafluoroborate (AgBF4) produces an array structural motifs that depend on ratio reactants present and crystallization temperature. With a 1:1 3-amp to silver, either folded macrocycle, 1a, or linear coordination polymer, 1, is formed, depending upon whether crystals are grown at −35 5 °C. A 3:2 forms two-dimensional sheets 2 regardless temperature crystallization. 2:1 metal again sees dependence one-dimensional, 3a, two-dimensional, 3, polymer formed low high temperatures, respectively. Addition 2,2‘-bipyridine any previous mixtures stops formation their respective structures, instead constructing discrete Ag−Ag-linked 4.
