摘要: Collisions of cars with white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) were studied in southern Michigan 1966 and 1967. Most the 2,566 accidents occurred at dawn, dusk, or after dark peaks sunrise 2 hours sunset. Accidents highest on weekends when evening traffic was greatest. A low seasonal peak collisions May a high one November. Sex ratio annual kill predominately female, but it shifted favor males during peaks. Causes seemed to be primarily rutting activities, hunter disturbance food lesser importance. related habitat type approximately according prevalence type. most common speeds 80-95 km/h (50-59 mph), killed 92 percent accidents. Human injuries less than 4 percent, resulted from secondary collisions.
