摘要: We report that the elasticoluminescent (elastico-L) material SrAl2O4:Eu2+ (SAO-E) shows an extraordinarily anisotropic thermal expansion: linear expansion coefficient in c axis was one order of magnitude smaller than those a and b axes monoclinic phase. This lattice behavior attributed to development spontaneous shear strain e5 upon lowering temperature, indicating SAO-E is preferentially deformed by stress. suggests controlling crystal orientation important for developing elastico-L devices.
